What do we learn from this lesson?
1. Anyone who knows that if we sow sparingly, or sow a poor grade of grain, we
will reap a poor crop. This refers to our spiritual life as well. We must study
the Bible, as Christians, and spend much time in prayer if we expect to bring
forth many souls to Christ.
2. The offerings that bring the most joy to God are those given willingly and
lovingly.
3. We are commanded not to compare our works to the works of others. We are only
asked to do our best for Christ.
4. If we would glory in anything that we have done, let us glory in the Lord for
our achievements , less they become worthless in His eyes.
5. Paul never wanted to be a burden to any one. He depended on gifts of love and
labor with his own hands for his living.
6. Theologians do not agree as to the nature of Paul’s thorn in the flesh. Some
say poor eyesight. Others say an impediment of speech.
Nevertheless, this thorn kept Paul humble for history records that it didn’t
limit his work for the Lord.
7. Christ was crucified through His weakness but He lived off the power of His
Father. Never let our human weaknesses limit our efforts to serve Christ for we
can also serve, not in our own strength, but in the neverending power of God.
Prayer:
Dear God, May we draw spiritual strength and knowledge from the words of thy
servant Paul that we may be able to do whatever you want us to do without
grumbling or complaint of obstacles that lay in our way. Amen
