Today's Bible Reading...

July 3 - Psalms 46-51

1. "God is our ___ and ___, an ever-present help in trouble." (46:1)
2. "Be ___, and know that I am God, I will be exalted among the nations,
I will be exalted in the earth." (46:10)
3. "Clap your ___, all you nations; shout to God with cries of ___." (47:1)
4. "__ is the Lord, and most worthy of praise, in the city of our God, his
holy
mountain." (48:1)
5. "The ___ will rule over them in the morning." (49:14)
6. "Do not be overawed when a man grows ___, when the splendor of his house
increases;
for he will take ___ with him when he dies." (49:16)
7. "For I know my transgressions, and my __ is always before me." (51:3)
8. "Cleanse me with hyssop, and I will be clean;
wash me and I will be ___ than ___." (51:7)
9. "Create in me a ___ heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within
me." (51:10)
10. "The sacrifices of God are a __ spirit; a ___ and contrite ____."
(51:17)

Ps 46 The Lord Almighty is with us. We have nothing to fear.

Ps 47 God is the great king over all the world.

Ps 48 Great is the Lord, and most worthy of our praise.

Ps 49 Don't be overawed with riches.

Ps 50 Contrast between the faithful and the wicked.

Ps 51 Written after David's sin with Bathsheba (II. Samuel 11,12).

What can we learn from these verses?

1. God is not a temporary answer to our problems. "God is our eternal
refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble."
2. God is like a river that sustains us. There is a thirst that only God
can quench.
3. War, destruction, pain and suffering will come, but God is in control
and will have the
final word.
4. Seek guidance from God. "G U I dance" (G=God, U=you, I=I, dance=dance)
"God you and I
dance together. You lead and I will follow."
5. At the time of death all of us will wish we had invested less on earth
and more in
heaven. Remember, you can't take it with you.
6. God will forgive our sins but does not erase the natural consequences.
7. As God forgives your sin, reach out to others in need of forgiveness and
reconciliation.
8. "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite
heart." God looks
upon the heart. What are the attitudes and motives of your heart? God
knows.

Prayer: God, hold me close to you even when my sorrow seems to block your
face and I am
blinded by my tears. Help me to sense your presence. Dance with me, God. In
the name of
Jesus I pray. Amen.
