Ps. 40 - wait patiently for God to act

Ps. 41 - a prayer for God's mercy and deliverance

Ps. 42 - a thirst for God

Ps. 43 - in times of discouragement turn to God

Ps. 44 - In times of pain and defeat

Ps. 45 - possibly a wedding song, may refer to David or Solomon. Possibly a
song of the
Messiah as we anticipate the marriage of the Lamb (Rev. 19:7)

What can we learn from these verses?

1. Don't be shy about telling others how God has been faithful and blessed
you.
2. God will quickly come to the aid of those who help the poor. The Lord
will protect
him and preserve his life.
3. God will bless the compassionate (compassion="suffering with others")
who have
regard for the weak and will deliver them in times of trouble. They
will be protected
and God will preserve their land.
4. God sustains the compassionate one on his sickbed and restores him from
his illness.
5. God blesses us so that we can reach out and be a blessing to others.
6. As a deer depends on water so we need to depend on God.

Prayer: God, help me to be numbered among your compassionate people who are
always ready
to reach out and be a blessing to others. Help me to put the needs of
others above my
own. In the name of Jesus I pray. Amen.
