Bible Application -January 5 - Genesis 13-15

1. “To the place of the altar which he had made there at first. And there _____________ called on the name of the Lord.” (13:4)
2. “ But the men of ___________ were exceedingly wicked and sinful against the Lord.” (13:13)
3. “So he brought back all the goods, and also brought back his brother _______ and his goods, as well as the women and the people.” (14:16)
4. “Then Melchizedek, king of Salem, brought out bread and wine; he was the _________ of God Most High.” (14:18)
5. “And he believed in the Lord, and he accounted it to him for __________." (15:6)
6. “Now as for you, you shall go to your fathers in ________, you shall be buried at a good old age.” (15:15)

Chapter 13 - God’s promises renewed with Abram
Chapter 14 - Lot is taken prisoner
Chapter 16 - God promised Abram the Land of Canaan.

What do we learn from this lesson?
1. Sometimes in order to keep peace among families it is necessary to agree to separate. But we must be sure to give our loved ones the choice of direction they will go. This will keep the peace and still maintain love within the family.
2. Having made such a generous yet difficult decision to maintain peace, we can be sure that God will be with us and bless us in our new field of work.
3. Abram went after his nephew and brought him back from his capturers. Is not this like anyone should respond to all the problems of life? Use our gifts and talents to preserve life or to make life more tolerable.
4. Melchizedek gave Abram bread and wine to refresh himself and Abram gave him the tithes of all he had. Has God Himself given all of us that which is needed to enjoy life? Is the tithe too little a presentation for His greatness to us? After all, it is His command.
5. How do we receive God’s blessings to us? Only to believe on Him with all the heart, soul and mind and follow His commandments.

Prayer:
Dear Father, Some time we will face difficult seasons in our lives. We ask that these moments will not overcome us, but through Your love and grace, we shall, as did Your servant Abram, overcome and see victory in Your presence. Amen.
