Chapter 17 - God provides water from a rock and fights the Amalekites
Chapter 18 - A father-in-law gives advice.
Chapter 19 - Camping around Mt. Sinai and God talks with Moses
What do we learn from these chapters?
1. Water is a very important to all of us. The Israelites were thirsty. They had
seen God’s mighty power but now they are complaining to Moses. They just
couldn’t seem to trust God! Are we like the Israelites? Complaining instead of
trusting?
2. Are we willing to pray daily for our pastor, our church, our nation?
The Israelites won the battle as long as Moses’ arms were held up toward God. We
need to commit ourselves to praying specifically for our nation, our leaders,
our pasters, teachers and all who are in authority.
3. Moses tried to do all the work by himself until his father-in-law intervenes.
The advice given to Moses is also good for each of us. Leadership can be hard.
Prayers are desperately needed today for our nation. Sometimes, we need to work
as a team instead of trying to do everything by ourselves.
4. Thunder, fire, earthquake and lightning reveals God’s presence and
demonstrates His power at Mt. Sinai. The God of Israel speaks to Moses. This
would have been am awesome sight. God may not speak with all of these but God is
speaking today. Are we listening? Are we ready to meet Him if He should return
today?
Prayer:
Dear Jesus, Thank you for Your love, Your presence and Your protection. We pray
for our leaders and all who are in authority that they will be led by the Holy
Spirit. We pray for those in our families, our church family and community. In
Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
