Today's Bible Reading...

Bible Application -January 15 - Genesis 43-45

1. “”Take your _____________ also, and arise, go back to the man.” (43:13)
2. “Now his heart yearned for his brother, so __________ made haste and sought somewhere to weep. And he went into his chamber and wept there.” (43:30)
3. “Also put my ____, the silver ____, in the mouth of the sack of the youngest, and his grain money,’ So he did according to the word that Joseph had spoken.” (44:2)
4. “And we said to my lord, ‘The lad cannot leave his father, for if he should leave his __________, his _____________ would die.’” (44:22)
5. “But now, do not therefore be grieved or angry with yourselves because you sold me here, for ____ sent me before you to __________ life.” (45:50
6. “Then he fell on his brother ____________ neck and wept, and Benjamin wept on his neck.” (45:14)
7. “Then Israel said, ‘It is enough ________ my son is still alive. I will go and see him before I die.’” (45:28)

Chapter 43 - Joseph entertains his brothers.
Chapter 44 - Joseph policy to keep Benjamin
Chapter 45 - Joseph reveals himself to his brothers

What do we learn from this lesson?
1. Life is full of decisions, many of them are difficult to make. A father has lost one of his sons to wild beasts, now he must make a decision. Run the risk of losing his youngest son, or having his whole family die of hunger. Certainly he cannot watch his whole family die so, with his heart broken, he releases his youngest son.
2. Fear is terrible. Standing before a man who had the power of life or death over them, after the leader of all the stores of Egypt had accused them of robbing Egypt, only to hear a guard say, “Peace be to you. Don’t be afraid.” In their fear they heard a guard saying “your God and the God of your father.” The name of God has the power to bring fear or peace whenever it is mentioned. In this case it brought peace.
3. Brotherly love is great. Even the powerful Joseph weeps when he sees his youngest brother, Benjamin. Through events placed by Joseph, he reveals himself to his brothers. Here is complete forgiveness. For Joseph says, “God sent me ahead of you to preserve your lives.”.
4. Forgiving love is so great that Joseph weeps upon the shoulder of his brothers and tells them to go back home to their father and bring him to Egypt so that he and his whole family could enjoy the fruits of Egypt. The joy of an old man dreaming that his whole family is alive must have hastened preparations for the great reunion in Egypt.

Prayer:
Dear God,
May we all learn the value of having a family together dwelling in love and peace together. Amen
