Today's Bible Reading...

Bible Application - Leviticus 14-15 Feb. 6

Questions:
1. “And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes and shave off all his hair and wash himself in ________ that he may be cleaned.” (14:8)
2. “And the priest shall take some of the __________ of the ___________ offering and the priest shall put it on the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed and upon the thumb of his right hand and upon the great toe of his right foot. (This signifies total cleansing) (14:14)
3. “Thus shall you separate the children of Israel from their ____________: that they may die not in their uncleanliness when they defile my tabernacle that is among them.” (15:31)

Chapter 14 - Cleansing for Leprosy
Chapter 15 - Personal Cleansing

What do we learn from these chapters?
1. Personal cleansing was extremely important to the children of Israel. God protected them from their own unlearned patterns of self cleanliness. For many diseases follow an unkempt group of so many people unlearned in ways of personal cleanliness. Can this not be a lesson for us today? Doctors continually caution about washing hands after certain personal events. Could this personal cleanliness also relate to our personal spiritual lives. The dirt of sin does get into our lives and needs also to be cleansed by confession and renewal of our spiritual commitment to Christ.
2. This cleansing was always done by the shedding of blood. For personal cleansing, God has provided a flow from the cross of Calvary that cleanse every spect of sin that may cling to us and to purge us from all unrighteousness. This is the purpose of his death and is ours for the humble asking.
3. Chapter 15:31 reveals to us that this is an essential cleansing if we would glorify God in the Tabernacle that surrounds us daily as we go about our chores assigned to us by our Maker.

Prayer:
Dear Jesus, The pain of Your death on the cross reveals to us the great love and care you have for us. We pray that You will remind us daily of its importance to our welfare here on earth and as the gate to heaven. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen
