Today's Bible Reading...

Bible Application Numbers 32-33 February 27

Questions:
1. “Therefore they said, ‘If we have found favor in your sight, let this land be given to your _____________ as a possession. Do not take us over the Jordan.’” (32:6)
2. “For we will not inherit with them on the other side of the Jordan and beyond, because our inheritance has fallen to us on this eastern side of the ___________.” (37:19)
3. “But if you do not do so, then make note, you have sinned against the Lord, and be sure your _________ will find you out.” (37:23)
4. “Now Moses wrote down the starting points of their journeys at the command of the _______. And these are their journeys according to their starting points,” (33:2)
5. “But if you do not drive out the _________ of the land from before you, then it shall be that those whom you let remain shall be irritants in your eyes, and thorns in your sides, and they shall ___________ you in the land where you dwell.” (33:55)

Chapter 32 - Reuben and Gad refuse to enter Canaan.
Chapter 33 - From Egypt to Canaan.

What do we learn from this lesson?
1. Two tribes, Reuben and Gad, were farmers and found good land on this side of the Jordan and did not want to cross Jordan with the other tribes of Israel. All they wanted was a place for their families and pasture for their flocks. “Let others fight for the land.” But Moses said, “Help your brothers fight for their land, then you may settle in your land.”
2. Is this not like many of us? Me and mine! Let the rest shift for themselves. But Moses said “no”, so it was a agreed that the warriors from Reuben and Gad would fight aside their brethren until they were settled in their land.
3. A lesson here for us. Moses said “ if you want to keep this land, you must fight with your brothers to get their land, if not then you have sinned against God.” Then he said, “Be sure your sin will find you out.” That is something we must never forget. Sin is never so old or buried so deeply that God will forget it. Confess your sin and it is all in the past - as far as God is concerned. There is no other way.
4. The tribe of Reuben and Gad did fight with their brothers, and Gad kept His promise and Reuben’s and Gad’s warriors did return to their home with honors. (Joshua 22:24)
5. We all know how painful and irritating it is to have something in our eye, but this was God’s warning to Israel if they did not destroy everything in the land, including all pictures, molden images, and all places of idol worship. Is this not a warning to us when we repent of sin. We must get rid of all temptations and things that entice us to go back to the old ways of sin.

Prayer:
Dear God, You have delivered us from sin. Now we pray that You would help us to completely brake from the path and begin the journey of faith with Thee. Bless our walk with Thee and we pray, let us never stray from the paths of righteousness. Amen.
