Chapter 10 - Beginning the Journey
Numbers 11 - The Quail
What do we learn from this chapter?
1. Chapter 10:9 gives the Israelites the assurance that in time of trouble they
need only to call on God and He would save them. How often we forget this
important lesson? How many hardships and problems do we try to fight our way
through when there is light and help from God who asks only to be called . Oh,
He knows but He just waits to be invited into the conflict that we face.
2. Chapter 10:29 is an invitation that the world needs to hear from the church.
Too often we think the church is here if they want it. This doesn’t work. People
need the same invitation that Moses gave to Hobad which was the promise of
life-changing events and then make sure that they are carried out. This is what
the church is all about and this is, perhaps, the basic purpose for its
existence.
3. Chapter 11:14, Moses offers the cry to God that many of us, at one time or
another, have cried. In response, God provided help for Moses, as He will always
help us through those difficult times in our lives. God has a way for you and
me. Just call upon Him and then let Him lead.
4. Chapter 11:32, How often are we like the Children of Israel? When it is here
squander it. No thought of tomorrow. An over-weight society reveals that we are
not much different than the Israelites. When the quail was given. the people of
israel were undisciplined as many of us are undisciplined. Many times we are
gluttons instead of practicing patience and good common sense.
Prayer:
Dear Lord, You have been so gracious to us. In You, we have found all our needs
supplied. Help us, O God, to use all your gifts and graces as a wise and
disciplined Christian. Amen.
