Chapter 1 - Paul prays that the church might have understanding Chapter 2 -
God’s grace and our faith Chapter 3 - The scope of God’s Power
What do we learn from this lesson?
1. God had a Plan from the very beginning of time. The New Century Bible states
“In Christ we were chosen to be God’s people, because from the very beginning
God had decided this in keeping with His plan.” (1:11) 2. We all had a sinful
nature which kept us from fellowship with God but through Christ’s death, God
has given us new life in Christ. When we accept Him as our Lord, He gives us a
new life with power to carry out His Plan which He will reveal to us, perhaps
one step at a time.
3. The scope of God’s power is awesome. Paul compares the Christian life to a
building. Jesus Christ is the cornerstone, while the apostles and prophets are
the foundation and the whole building is joined together in Christ. Christ makes
it grow and become a holy temple in the Lord. In simple words, we all (Jew and
Gentile) are One in Christ to fulfill God’s Plan.
4. Paul prays that we may have love.
5. With God’s power working in us, God can do much more than anything we can ask
or imagine.
6. Perhaps you are discouraged today. You may be lonely. You may be
disappointed. You may feel unworthy or lacking in purpose but if you will pray
and depend on Christ, He will meet your every need. He will fill You with His
love and help you to be part of this Great Plan of God.
Dear Jesus,
Help us to turn to you for instructions and the strength to carry them out
according to your will for our lives today. In Jesus’ name we pray.
Amen.
