Chapter 1 - God’s Blessings
Chapter 2 - False Teachers
Chapter 3 - The Day of the Lord
What do we learn from these passages?
1. God has given us everything we need: faith, goodness, knowledge, self
control, patience, service for God, kindness, and love. What more could we want?
We need to depend on God when we need any of these in our lives and ask Him to
supply our needs.
2. The Christian message does not depend on legend or myth. Peter walked and
talked with Jesus. He heard God speak to Him. How could anyone doubt the words
of Peter?
3. Peter was aware of the false prophets who deny the Lord. He tells us about
God’s punishment on the angels who sinned and like the fallen angels, God will
punish all who sin and do not ask for Christ’s forgiveness. Beware lest the
false teachers lead you astray.
4. We are warned to live holy lives and serve the Lord because Christ is coming
back and He will judge everyone.
5. One day, this world will be destroyed by fire. We hear much about global
warming today. We do not know how soon this prophecy is going to be fulfilled.
The main thing is that we be ready to meet our Lord when He returns.
6 We need to grow in grace and the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Reading and
studying our Bible and praying daily so that we do grow in grace and knowledge
and ready to identify the false teachers.
Prayer:
Our Father,
Thank you for this lesson. Lord, help us to trust you for more faith, goodness
and all the rest and keep us from false teachings. Help us to grow in grace and
in the knowledge of Jesus Christ. Amen.
