Chapter 1 - Paul is amazed at how quickly these new Christians could backslide
Chapter 2 - We are justified by faith, not by works Chapter 3 - Paul asks what
made them leave the faith so soon
What have we learned from this lesson?
1. How quickly we receive new members into the church only to watch them leave.
We need to pray for an answer to this problem.
2. We are cautioned not to preach to please people. Our calling, as preachers
and teachers is to preach the need of salvation with great force by faith.
3. We born-again Christians are all alike--children of God! Now we can all kneel
together, stand together, and worship together for we are now equal in Christ.
4. No one is justified by works or how large are ourofferings to the church, or
how faithful we has been in Sunday School and church attendance. It is only
those who place their faith in God, live by that faith and die by that faith who
shall be saved.
5. The law and the 11 commandments have taught us what God expects of us. It was
the path God used to bring us to the realization that we cannot keep all the
law--thus we need the sacrifice of Christ to be saved.
Dear Lord,
There is much each of us need yet to learn. Teach us not to depend on the good
things we do, but on our total submission to Christ, and not our vain seeking to
obey the law.. Amen
