Today's Bible Reading...

August 29 Jeremiah 51-52

(All verses are taken from the New King James Version of the Bible)

Questions:
1. “Thus says the Lord, ‘Behold, i will raise up against ________.'" (51:1)
2. “For his plan is against ________ to destroy it because it is the vengeance of the
Lord. The _______for His Temple." (51:11b)
3. “And i will repay _____and all the inhabitants of Chaldea for all the ______ they
have done in _____ in your sight’ says the Lord.” (51:24)
4. And the _____will tremble and sorrow, for very purpose of the Lord shall be
performed against Babylon. To make the land of _____ a desolation without
inhabitant.” (51:29)
5. “I will bring them down like _________to the slaughter." (51:40)
6. “My people, go out of the midst of her! And let ______ deliver himself from the
fierce _____ of the Lord”. (51:45)
7. “Then you shall say, ‘Thus _______ shall sink and not rise from the catastrophe
that I will bring upon her. And they shall be very weary.” Thus far are
the ______ of Jeremiah.” (51:64)
8. “He (Zedekiah) also did evil in the sight of the _____, according to all that
_________ had done.” (52:2)
9. “In the eighteenth year of _____, he carried away captive from Jerusalem
eight hundred and thirty-two persons”. (52:29)
10. “So Jehoiachin changed from his ___garments and he ate bread regularly
before the ____ all the days of his life”. (52:32)

It is interesting to compare 2 Kings 24-25 with Jeremiah 39 and 52.

In Chapter 51:6, Jeremiah says, “Flee from Babylon. Run for your life”. If you
had heard these words of Jeremiah, would you have obeyed? What about all the warnings that have been given the people of New Orleans to get out of the City
before the hurricane arrives and some of them are not responding?

Jeremiah reminds them that “He (God) made the earth by His power. He founded
the world by His wisdom and stretched out the heavens by His understanding”.
(51:15) Have we learned from Jeremiah that God’s way is the ONLY way to live? Disobey Him and Judgment will come!

Why do you think someone decided to add Chapter 52? Do you think it was added
to emphasize what had already been said? Do you repeat instructions to your
children or others? If so, why do you do it?

Read Jeremiah 52:32 again. Does this remind you of the prophecy of another table
where the King of Kings will be present as foretold in Revelations?

In what way should my life change as a result of studying this passage of Scripture?

Prayer:
Dear Lord, Many times we do not understand what we have read until you enlighten
us with the Holy Spirit’s interpretation to us. Help us to listen for that special message
you have for us today.
Thank You for the Bible! Help us to do what you want us to dothis day! In Jesus’
name we pray. Amen
